It’s hard to know where to start when describing Colin & Lucy’s wedding. So much was packed into their wedding day which took place at Ratagan Youth Hostel, all planned and executed by themselves with help from their friends and family. The couple met whilst cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats and cycling is a big part of their lives, as they are currently getting ready to go off on a cycle tour for 2 years together – just a few weeks after their wedding.
They both wanted a wedding that reflected their lifetstyles and they certainly achieved that. The day began at 7am with a yoga session held by their friend. After that a walk along the shore and a swim in the bracingly cold waters outside the hostel followed by vegan pancakes cooked by their guests for everyone to enjoy and warm up. The outdoor humanist ceremony was just perfect and was swiftly followed by the bridal party taking a cycle ride along the road together. Lucy & Colin really wanted to go off afterwards for a ride together which was a wonderful idea and worked well. By the time they got back it was straight into the Hokey Cokey to the tunes of the pipes and then Highland Games on the lawn.
The next part of the day can only be described as hilarious cookery which all the guest took their part in. A huge pan of vegan paella was the centre of the meal but various other dishes were cooked and dished up outside as well. Some guest went off in canoes, others tended to the outdoor fire pit. When the food was ready everyone just helped themselves and afterwards, helped with the dishes. I loved every minute of this action packed wedding day – I have never seen so much laughter and fun and it is just a delight to see Lucy & Colin’s huge smiles all day long in the photos. I wish you both all the very best on the next adventure.
