As ever, for me, Stornoway holds a warm welcome and I have been lucky enough to have been photographing weddings on The isle of Lewis for around 6 years now. There is something very traditional and family orientated about island weddings. Ruth and Donalds wedding was no exception to this and the day was a quite simply a wonderful celebration of marriage, family and love.
St Columbus Church was the venue for the ceremony with a quick trip over to Willowglen afterwards for some photographs. Couples often say to me that it is so nice to get away for 15 minutes and have some quiet time having photographs taken away from everyone – I guess a chance to draw breath and take in everything that is happening at such a fast pace during the day. It’s often a good idea to think of a place you would like to go to be by yourselves ( I will be there, but I will be very quiet ) for some pictures after your ceremony.
The Caberfeidh Hotel in Stornoway was the venue of the wedding reception and I have to say what a lovely warm welcome at this hotel. Transformed into a pink wonderland, the reception room looked fantastic.
Donald’s sister runs her own company making beautiful cakes at Cloud 9 Cakes and made the most stunning wedding cake for Donald and Ruth. So, here are a selection of photos from the day:
