Loch Ness is steeped in mystery and atmosphere. The perfect destination for your wedding. I might, however be slightly biased. I live five minutes from the shores of Loch Ness and spend a lot of time both on it and photographing it. I have seen it when the mist is low, the air is freezing and there is a stillness which is just haunting, on a clear blue warm summers day when its vastness is simply stunning and on wild, stormy days when snuggling up by an open fire watching the ever changing view over the Loch is simply perfect.
One of Loch Ness’ hidden gems is Aldourie Castle which sits secluded by the shores of Loch Ness. An exclusive use wedding venue which has it all. Sumptous, luxurious, yet homely in a location to die for. I have seen many weddings over the years and Aldourie has to be my favourite. From a purely selfish point of view it has everything a wedding photographer could wish for – fantastic outdoor locations all around the castle and the grounds, access down to Loch Ness and also fabulous interiors if the weather is not so good. Add in another element to your wedding in the Highlands of Scotland and you can see how Loch Ness could indeed be the prefect wedding destination. The Jacobite boats sail daily on Loch Ness and can be hired as exclusive Loch Ness Charters.
Spud the Piper gives everything a real Highland feel as well! Seen here piping as the Jacobite Queen approaches Aldourie Castle pier to the waiting bride and groom.
Another fabulous smaller wedding venue on Loch Ness is the luxurious Loch Ness Lodge and Spa.
Or if you would like to be married in one of Scotland’s most dramatic ruined castles overlooking Loch Ness have a look at Urqhuart Castle. You can also read more about Urqhuart castle as a wedding venue here
