Gale & Nicole’s wedding this winter came complete with a custom made Victorian riding costume, a Gothic Style church, an atmospheric Loch and a few torrential downpours. It was also filled with lots of love and laughter – Gale & Nicole were surrounded by their friends on a day that was just perfectly intimate and relaxed, yet full of character.
The Ardanaiseig hotel near Oban was the setting for the couples ” first look ” pictures. Quiet common in America, but very little known here – this is where the groom sees his bride for the first time before the ceremony. We chose the edge of Loch Awe as the setting for these shots.
The main reason for the first look photos was the late ceremony time and the fact that it would be getting dark by the time the ceremony had begun. As a result, much of the wedding photography was done prior to the service. The couple photographs were taken in the grounds of The Ardanaiseig Hotel and the group shots were photographed outside the church before the ceremony. I’m always delighted to see things happen in an unconventional manner and everything certainly fitted both Gale & Nicole’s personalities as well as their vision for their wedding day.
Their candlelit service inside St Conan’s Kirk felt magical and full of atmosphere and was followed by a wonderfully relaxed dinner in the Coast Restaurant in Oban. It really was a joy to be part of Gale & Nicole’s wedding day.
