This is me …. Photographed whilst I was on The Outer Hebrides. It pretty much encompasses everything I love about my work. I had just photographed a wonderful wedding in Stornoway the day before and went on to spend a few days shooting landscapes on the Isle of Uist.
I went to University in Manchester and Swansea and studied Photography in the Arts after realising I had a love for photography early on in my life. However it took me till after I had had my children to start up my business. That was 12 years ago now and I haven’t looked back since. I genuinely love every aspect of my work. I began photographing weddings whilst living in Ullapool and have since moved twice but continued photographing weddings in all areas of Scotland. I shoot weddings which vary from large events at exclusive use venues such as Aldourie Castle on Loch Ness, Ackergill Tower and Achnagairn House to smaller and very individual weddings on remote beaches on the Scottish Islands. Regardless of where the wedding is held, I shoot natural, creative and most of all, emotive images. My aim is to capture all the expressions, emotions and atmosphere on your wedding day. My work can be seen in the portfolio section of this website, recent weddings on the blog page and information about various wedding venues on the venue page.
I have won many awards for my wedding photography and have also been awarded the MPA UK Landscape & Travel photographer of the Year for 3 years running. Working as a travel photographer for a few years now, I have had the opportunity to work in countries such as Slovenia, Iceland, Boston, Greece and Norway. I believe that the variety of work I have undertaken, often having to shoot in challenging situations and light, has added to my photographic skills and equipped me well to deal with any situation on a wedding day.
My home is Drumnadrochit, right on the edge of Loch Ness. I can sit in the living room and watch mist rolling down the Loch, clouds brewing, storms passing and deer wandering by. I really couldn’t ask for much more. I spend a lot of time photographing Loch Ness and the Islands and if you are interested you can view my other work on my landscape photography website here
Ewan and Cameron, my little boys who suddenly aren’t so little anymore. We do stuff together … as much as I can possibly fit in. They are my world and I believe in teaching them about life through example. Examples such as travelling, surfing, snowboarding and exploring together!
Rob, my partner, has endless patience and often stands for hours on freezing beaches whilst I wait for the right light. I didn’t believe that someone like rob existed … until I met him. My best friend, kind, understanding and always putting me first.
